As JHMI-CSSA have persistently put into the efforts to serve both the newcomers and the existing fellow members at JHMI, the friendship and brotherhood developed and felt are truly invaluable for our development here. One step further, JHMI-CSSA was considering how to extend this service to the future development of our fellow Chinese. We are fascinated with looming possibility to streamline our resources from different aspects into an organic entity, i.e. a NETWORK to unite and serve our Chinese Physicians and Biomedical Researchers at JHMI in a protracted and interactive nature.

Every year, we saw a large amount of visiting scientists, many of which are either excellent clinicians or aspiring biomedical researchers from different cities of China, joined JHMI as new blood. Quite often, they came with definite aim to acquire overseas experience in this top biomedical institution. After a certain period, (usually between 1~3 years), many of which chose to return to China for the advancement of their careers. A highly homogeneous background of our fellow Chinese at JHMI and common experience shared under the great Hopkins Dome inevitably come into natural affinity among our Chinese members. These precious resources are something we should never neglect.

However, due to the lack of network system, most of those top Chinese Physicians and Medical Researchers can hardly interact with each other here. It would be even more difficult to make use of this natural affinity to help each other when they return to China. In addition, quite a lot of Chinese scholars and students in JHMI are looking for the opportunity in China. But many of them either lost or are restricted in their contacts with Chinese system. Therefore, JHMI-CSSA would like to propose the establishment of JHMI Chinese Physician and Medical Researcher Network. We sincerely believe the positive influence of this symbiotic Network should be fully revealed in the coming stage of our life.

Preliminary considerations of organization:

We will therefore provide the service of network registry, casual meetings or seminars, information exchange and update (supported by both JHMI-CSSA website and exclusive group email list). We will set up the Network headquarter in JHMI-CSSA at Baltimore. In addition, we will look for the people to set up branches in Beijing (North China), Shanghai (East China), Guangzhou (South China), Xi'an (West China), Wuhan (Middle China) and Chengdu (South-western China). For each branch, both the internal (Baltimore) and external (respective city in China) coordinators will be recruited. Independent and integral information system will be established for such a purpose. Events will be held at those locations on a regular basis.

These are just our preliminary thoughts. As the first step, we would like to listen to your suggestion to this proposal humbly. Any kind feedback and input are invaluable and most appreciated. Wenhai and I will take care of this issue at the initial stage tentatively. Any other people who would like to give a hand, kindly please let us know. After a collection of massive suggestions, we would like to start the registry of the Network and establish the core committee of the Network soon.
